Assisting Big Akwa’s food tech development in Sweden

Over the past months, INAQ has been working closely with Big Akwa, a Swedish food tech developer, on their innovative project located in Alby, Sweden. The project, which aims to establish a land-based production facility for an annual output of 6,000 tonnes of rainbow trout, represents a breakthrough in sustainable aquaculture. What makes this initiative unique is its integration into an industrial symbiosis with a hydrogen plant operated by RES, a global renewable energy company based in the UK. This symbiotic relationship between aquaculture and renewable energy production is expected to set new standards for sustainable food production in Sweden and beyond.

INAQ involvement – A Comprehensive Red Flag Analysis

INAQ’s role in the project has been instrumental, particularly through the implementation of a thorough Red Flag analysis. This risk assessment process plays a critical role in identifying potential challenges that could affect the project’s success, particularly as it transitions from the concept phase to more detailed design and construction stages.

A Red Flag analysis, commonly required by potential investors, is not only a tool for attracting funding but also an invaluable resource for the company itself. By highlighting key areas of risk, the analysis helps the project team address potential issues before they arise, ensuring smoother development. For Big Akwa, this analysis has been crucial in preparing for the next phases, as it strengthens both the project’s financial appeal and its operational framework.

“By identifying potential risks early on, we have been able to develop strategies and actions that better equip us for the challenges that may arise. This proactive approach enhanced our ability to deliver with greater precision and quality. INAQ’s support has been a significant factor in our ongoing success, and we look forward to continuing this partnership”, says Elena Petukhovskaya (CEO of Big Akwa).

INAQ has been impressed by Big Akwa’s visionary plans for industrial symbiosis and appreciates the collaboration with Big Akwa. INAQ is looking forward to further assist Big Akwa on their journey towards sustainable food production in Sweden. Vegard Aksnes, Nina Santi, Roger Oddebug and Onno Musch has been involved from INAQ.
